In an attempt to modernize the carpool and make ride-sharing easier, SAP has released TwoGo, a cloud-based mobile solution that helps employees working in the same company organize shared transportation. TwoGo has helped match 44,000 rides for SAP employees since its 2011 launch, generating more than $6 million of value for the company in the form of more open parking spaces and lower maintenance costs for the company’s corporate car fleet.

The solution has been adopted company-wide, from the rank and file to c-suite executives. Even SAP co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe is an active participant. One SAP employee recently admitted he was a little nervous about the prospect of commuting to work with the boss. “What would we talk about?” the employee wondered. Not surprisingly, the two found that they could chat about business.
